Market Capitalization (also referred to as Market Cap or Market Value) is the total market value of Bitcoin. It is the most widely used valuation metric, although it is not a very accurate representation of market share as detailed by Stylianou and Carter [5] . In short, this is because Market Capitalization treats all coins as equal. However this is not the case as there is not enough liquidity for all coins to be traded at the same price.
Following Stylianou and Carter [5] , Market Capitalization is defined as the amount of circulating bitcoin multiplied by the current market price:Market Capitalization = amount of bitcoins × current price, where amount of bitcoins is the amount of bitcoin in circulation and current price corresponds to the current market price of bitcoin.
